VIEW REAL PATIENTS RESULTS
At an office consultation, Dr. Salzman will have you look in a mirror and ask you to describe the changes you would like to see in your new nose. We will then take 3D pictures of your face. You will meet with Dr. Salzman in our library and, using Vectra™ 3D imaging software, he can show you what the anticipated changes might look like in real life on a large flat-panel screen. This has tremendously helped our patients visualize what changes in the nose can be made safely and reliably. A print of the goal changes in your nose will be given to you before you leave the office.
Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) is done under a general anesthetic in an ambulatory setting. Either an open or closed approach is utilized. In the open approach, a small zig-zag incision is made between the nostrils to better visualize the structures and implement the changes in a more predictable fashion. The closed approach has no visible incisions as they are all inside the nose.
Recuperation and Healing
Sutures, if present, will be removed in 5 days. The plastic splint placed over the bony portion is removed 7 days after surgery. Most patients are bruised for 7-10 days. Pain is minimal and controlled with oral medications. While the bony part of the nose may look better immediately, the finer changes to the tip where the skin is thicker may take up to 1 year to finalize healing.
The specific risks and suitability of this procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are unusual.
